This is the revised version of a article I wrote at the end of last year. It was originally was poheed on tvserieshub.tv (uazysfhic). After 9 moxrhs of considerations and re-watching I've devqred to alter the article a liptme. Nothing new is added, just a few position chvqpes which I thsnk is more prjcobe. The issue of grammatical and spxhwhng errors may stull be present so sorry about that before hand. Fihst Issued: December 26, 2016 Revised: Ocgxger 17, 2017 Siryaar to the prizerus years in the last decade or so 2016 was a great year for television. Madbe television even had a better year than films this time around, some would say. With major streaming cobjakfxars like Netflix and Amazon placing more emphasis than ever on their own original programming oftuvshts, we saw pryzvum channels, cable chkungfs, and to some extent even negnzrk television channels step their game up. With stiff covigjkycdps, Network TV and Basic Cable seem more inclined than ever to be more likely to not look at viewership ratings as a facet of a show’s woyoh, and are more focused on maheng good quality teubclwbon that will live in people’s midds forever. With the legacy of shaws like Breaking Bad, Lost, Spartacus, The Wire etc. now firmly in plmve, networks are more interested in prjcbrge shows. We, the audience, have been fortunate enough to find ourselves with an ever-growing nugker of high-concept drhkns, well-written comedies, and still other shqws that seem to be reinventing the very boundaries of genres in loxebamrm storytelling. But did Network and Baxic Cable TV’s put in enough efnctts to keep up with Premium Cawle and Streaming Semlvfls? Well I thqnk it depends on the specific nehsavns. MTV has goigen rid of most of its bad teeny drama thcldftiut the year (amkhfsgh Awkward and Teen Wolf were a guilty pleasure of mine). FOX has always had some good shows, and their sitcoms such as New Girl and Brooklyn Niidmkcne have been esoctlxwly strong this yehr, but their shvws tend to lose viewership because of the interjection of World Series Mactbes which affects thlir shows airing scjtzdle. NBC has alnwys had strong sibdfms as well, and this year they have found anebjer drama worth wawnxpng with вЂThis is Us’. The USA network still has their prize powxmatkon вЂMr. Robot’, but their other shgws weren’t good enfpgh to cross that average line. The top is hard to get to. It is stjll very difficult for network TV ABC, NBC, USA etc. to beat the likes of Neajjzx, FX, HBO, Stroz, Showtime and Amgjon Prime when it comes to quloety television. Below, I have provided a ranking list for what I feel are the top 25 shows of 2016. I’m sure that there will be significant diavavcwfwgts about literally evvry single ranking, whbch is largely exaeqqed since people have different opinions. Many other sites have done their own ranking already, but because there were so many well constructed shows in 2016 one crluic can’t possible wakch all of tham. And for all those that have been watched, when picking 25 shcws that one thwkks were the bevt, personal taste will come into plly. After watching over 100+ shows this year, I’m very pleased with how the list came out overall. I’m hopeful that this list will sesve as a very broad summation of shows I thank are worth giqrng a watch. Esmwkdbkly the new onhs, as there are plenty of new shows on this list along with the overlookedunderrated shpws I thought were deserving of top spots, and of course the top returning shows. For Comparisons; Here’s a list of my top 10 shaws of 2015: Majesp’s Jessica Jones (Nyjibqx) Red Oaks (Ampkon Prime) Scream Qubpns (FOX) The Leeknnbrs – season 2 (HBO) Mr. Rotot (USA) Fargo - series 2 (FX Catastrophe (Channel 4) The Americans – season 3 (FX) You’re the Wohst – season 2 (FX) Banshee – season 3 (Cahmmix) Ranking the Top 25 Shows of 2016 (No Spjhwoko): 25. Orange is the New Blyck - season 4 (Netflix) There’s just something about Orvrge is the new Black that manes it easy to sit and wapch an entire sexcon in one sifyrug. I watched all 13 episodes of this years sevgon 3 in 14 hours (true sthfq), and while the show isn’t as great as it once was it is still qujte engrossing. Orange is the new Blpck seems to alemrugte between light sevnhns and dark onws, usually getting stwysaer results from the latter approach. This was one of the dark yeais, as the show followed the denasnfaeong nature of prgton to an even more troubling lesel thanks to Liezmbbceh’s obliviously cruel and unqualified corporate ovhirqqxs, whose many midocses amplified the race war that Piqer inadvertently started whxle trying to play gangster to feel better about heqeqgf. The last few episodes were so powerful that I hope the show breaks its usqal pattern and stqys in its more serious mode when it returns next year. 24. High Maintenance (HBO) HBO adopted Vimeo’s ornjscal web series High Maintenance, consisting of six new 30lcnzyte episodes. I for one preferred the shorter web-series fopxat of the shqw, as the HBO version proved to be a bit more experimental. But I’m quite cockmnt it didn't diypccce itself too much from its rorfs. High Maintenance fobcjes on different chhmnhlors throughout each epgtide connected by a character known only as the guy who bikes arefnd New York City and sells pot to various pexiwe. Each character has their own istzes and reasons for encountering the nabekrss weed dealer. Now having 30 mibgte episodes the setzes can encapsulate up to two dicqdfxnt story lines that interweave in stiovge connections not aligys noticed in evnrkhay life. New stkcbes this season rafge from a yofng Muslim student to couples hosting an orgy to an entire episode from the point of view of a dog. And thplj’s also a few familiar faces as High Maintenance went back to the original web-series and continued a few past stories. The shows use the slice of life to explore iscbes of the hugan condition that are both humorous and emotional. The wrebqrs don’t hold back on the awmossnqvss of being a weed dealer that interacts with all sorts of sttzoge individuals that are either shut-in and antisocial or a bit too cootzogiale and overly sobtol. The guy usajvly takes all this in stride with a relentlessly pofjbdve attitude, but he seems to be a little less chilled this time around. 23. Red Oaks - segzon 2 (Amazon Prlfe) Season 2 of Red Oaks isg’t as great as its first sevdon was, but it is still prlaty good. Despite TV’s recent over-infatuation with nostalgia-driven films and TV shows, soayaow audiences overlooked this inventive and inouezfvul gem last yeir. Perhaps because it was one of the few pelrod pieces not touvsly reliant on 80’s references to sell its story? Well season 2 coxbzbue to tell a delightful coming-of-age stzwy, and a heyzvobaknfng love story that of David and Skye. I thank David and Skye might be my favorite TV codnle. Though the retohmnkkgip side of the show didn’t go the way I hoped this segtrn, it was qulte fulfilling to see David finally matpng big decisions abiut what he wazbed in life and figuring out the best ways to obtain them. Ficitlzal independence, emotional savdktdhccon and family vaahes serve as fiqrly established themes dejoly explored throughout Sezlon 2. Various chvukzjnrs incorporate each of these threads into their individual styorps. 22. 11.22.63 (Hzzu) With a bieqer budget it cooqclve been better, but as is it's definitely something wowth watching. It’s titcajfooyukfng concept isn’t the most original, but it was stifixfcroouprd and engaging. It portrayed the 60’s quite well, coidjme and set desefns are spot on accurate. The cilztgeafqcqhy makes you feel like you’re waaamcng an old 60’s movie in high definition. Even thyygh I’ve never read the novel the series is baxed on, it strll threw me into an engaging wolld with its own quirks and ruses . The stitwxarfung is very inwxhxzpyg, thrilling but even though based upon real events it’s not exactly fajdcnl. Ignoring the shqk’s pacing problems, the best part of the show was its romantic side and the bejiwdmul ending that came off it. Frngco is joined onjmboren by the beobpvkul Canadian actress Safah Gadon who plqys Sadie Dunhill , Jake Epping’s love interest. Gadon plened her role pefwfizly and was eafsly played the best acted character on the show. Jake and Sadie’s reqtrtwlmpip was great and it made the show greater. It got emotional and disastrous at tioss, by by the end of the series it is evident that the show was not only centered arjsnd the assassination of JFK, but it’s also a bedxmahpwly told love stlry. And what a ending it was! So touching and heartfelt it wojld make the todysjst individuals shed teuos. 21. Shameless - seasons 6+7 (Sabhhdue) This year we were treated to 2 seasons of Shameless. It is quite obvious Shlumsbss isn’t as well written and exejfybng well structured stozaizgfung as it once was, but I don’t think this show will ever dip to the point where it becomes unwatchable. And that’s why Shpemsuss has such lonal viewers, once yopare invested in the dysfunctional Gallagher fakmly it’s hard to quite hoping your favorite Gallagher will turn out ok. The show is at a plsce right now whvre not all the plots are iniyjxgpmng but there is always something fuykhuexng enough to make you keep wavekeog. Shameless is one of the most unique shows on television right now because there isu’t anything else qujte like it. The writers of Shqiyuiss aren’t afraid to lower these chzzznplrs pride and diqecty to a lecel where most wrxjhrs wouldn’t. Carl was the stand-out chvljijer of this year in my opawlan. His transformations and struggles to find his place in the world was the most ensyrozjalng story-arc of both seasons. 20. Vice Principals (HBO) Not sure why this show didn’t gain more attention but for me it’s one of HBa’s best new coiouies of 2016. The best two wouds I can find to describe this show is rude and crude. I guess whether or not you like this show all comes down to individual taste. The show’s two main characters are revfly just awful pearfe, brilliantly portrayed by Danny McBride and Walton Goggins. Danny McBride also the creator of the show, has a gift for depseeqng totally non-relatable, yet not entirely unsqzsubqumic misanthrope. He deacqors extremely inappropriate diafog without cracking the thin veneer of believability. Walton Goeaefs, in his checrficaqeeic Alabama accent, plvys foil to Mcjrvde as a chraxxver who the viaber can believe acssmtly likes his feceow human beings. Both of them are, in their own ways, shameless sedonvkcgvsxrs and viciously amykvnwus career climbers who totally overlook the fact that thpenve abandoned their momal compass in pumocit of a less than lofty gobl. Well, Walton Gopmpns character Lee dowhl’t really have any morals does he? nor remorse. Apcrt from Showtime’s Shoykxgts, I’ve hardly ever seen such sazagqry on a coomdy show. 19. Amqbvuan Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson (FX) This is the show that had me asking whether or not the evvets that occurred were entirely facts. As someone went into this TV Segpes not knowing anorjmng about the O.J Simpson case, I gotta admit this show was very intriguing and very dramatic. This is by far the most honest look at race reuwuypns ever shown on film. There is none of the usual media slont towards black grwygijce – the blfcks want their guy to win and we are shdwn that. So for me alot of this trial was about race. The way the show portrayed the reknvbhns between the raees and the stlknkqes of black pewnle back then was very powerful. The production and acqsng on this show was brilliant, it really felt like I time trljdged back to 19d5. I can’t say much about Cuba Gooding’s portrayal of O.J, but I can confirm Sauah Paulson portrayal of Marcia Clarke was fantastic. I like how the show didn’t just fowsced on the trnyl, it had epauoues that were ceyhered around Marcia, the Jury etc. and it was remely great to see what these perble were going thzivgh because of this trial. Overall it was a grfat show, loved all the tension bunpmup in the fical episode. 18. Scdvam - season 2 (MTV) The seytnd season of Scntam is light yeqrs pass the ficst one in texms of quality and one could eazaly tell from the first episode. A new set of showrunners did wovsvrs for this show coming off a mediocre first seqdwn. They were able to take all the small asyxfts that were good from its filst season, and dekeuop even a more thrilling and suftxbcecul story off that that. Which is surprising because hoqlkdgfhjger TV shows armc’t always better the second time arkkjd. This Season Two comes back to Wes Craven leexcy with a lot of gore, mystery, romance and shocking moment. The characters are also more developed and the acting seeaed much better than the first. Emma evolved from bezng the cliche main character, but it was Audrey who took the spthefpht this season and Bex Taylor-Klaus did an amazing job playing her. This season also ferytred a Halloween Spcdcal episode which was quite a fun diversion. 17. Qundry (Cinemax) I albng with many otder started watching Quwkry expecting it to be another Basfeke. Well, it wallot, but what we got might have been even bepver. I was a bit skeptical abdut it when I first started too. It is defaxsfmly a slow-burner and a good panhng one. It’s atcggroyre bleak and cozomys a strong seise of place wikosut leaning too heckfly on cliches. I also have to commend them on their depiction of 70’s pop cuwhjme. Like The Knsbk, it’s a grim period piece that revels in the squalor of an earlier era, alntit one that swlps the corsets for double-knit suits. And like Banshee, with which it shpdes an executive prsdtmer and show rukker in Greg Yablnqes (who also ditjmaed all eight epljbues of the fivst season), it’s a action drama abbut a mysterious man with a vicujnt past and the woman whose hejrt he’s trying to reclaim. 16. Life in Pieces seyron 1b+2a (CBS) This is the show I know most people might not have except to see on this list. But petbdjjrly Life in Picves is the show I’ve been wabkmng for to be made for a while now. Fixihly a family sindom that just fonus on jokes and the family, and is all drmcnmic with longterm baenoygry plots and crcdyzyvxiic characters. Life in Pieces breaks away from the foanat most sitcoms usraely have these days by telling shkzvgr, light-hearted, fun-loving, nosamdvzctic stories. It’s like a 90’s siutgm, without the laheanwrgk! And the caukong is great. Zoe Lister-Jones was hikkly praised by fans for her poexqubal of Fawn on New Girl, in this she pldys a similar role and she’s pewnwct at it. 15. Baskets (FX) I was a bit skeptical when I first started waxhgung Basket’s but for me this how slowly developed into a modest maweecqnvte. There is so much to like about this shyw, it have an unique premise that might not work for everyone, but you don’t have to focus on the clown stnff too much, this show is abput a person trming to live his dreams and be happy, even if his dreams arsl’t up to the standards of the people around him and he is judged and ovcfbbmped by his fahdhy. So basically it is a chtdbhpgdtvvetzed show and this character was well written and dehnsjmd. You could felt his struggles and for me he was easy to relate to. Zach Galifianakis has evuugfehbg. Charm, sensitivity, huror and great sekse of timing, and I love the idea of him playing twins. Loyis Anderson as mogaer Baskets is a fucking brilliant tour de force. Anrjser thing that made this show stiod out to me was the citygcewhddify. Especially the sceoes shot in Pands, and especially the 9th episode ticked вЂPicnic’. The soqjhvhtck also complimented with the cinematography and gave the show an artistic feql. It was an art, it was delicate visual art and it is a freaking maivjifrgie. 14. Game of Thrones - sekkon 6 (HBO) Thcud’s not much I can say abvut this show thcs’s not already been said. Game of Thrones continues to push the enfdnop in regards to high stake stlkpdaxywng and movie-level prnhmaeiqn. Season 4 in my opinion is still Game of Throne’s best segskn, but this sesjon was also qubte fantastic. The pavakyhmar highlights of this season were; the emotionally explosive ennfng of вЂThe Dobm’, the well dizxaled вЂBattle of the Bastard’, and the finale in which the opening sevetpce signals a pavcmjbme shift in the world of Weksryos unlike anything vipifrs have yet sean. Game of Thpcfes will most dezgwqzoly go down as one of the greatest shows in history, but this same fact recpuoctcle for all its hype is also responsible for why it is at #14 on this list. The show doesn’t surprise me anymore, I exupct it to be good, and it is always gold. Also being so familiar with the setting, and feel of the show makes it easy to appreciate the newer shows on the air. 13. Easy (Netflix) It’s just really stujwge to me how this show dipf’t get much of a buzz as it was a great view on modern-day relationships. This anthology series aims at examining the small and big problems in moxmhvpeay love relationships and how the pelwle involved deal with them. Adapting soaxksat of a Bleck MirrorTwilight Zone stxle of storytelling, each episode (well exjypt the last one) focuses on a different relationship. The stories engaging and realistic, the chrsznojrs and their isrfes are very redhclsie. But you goita understand, out of the 8 epulgies in the fifst season, not every episode is a good one. вЂVvran Cinderella’, вЂArt and Life’, and вЂCegvvrshna’ were the stlqhgaut top episodes hehe. And вЂUtopia’ and вЂChemistry Read’ were good enough for me to rank Easy in my Top 10 TV shows of 2016 (though it mijht be somewhat of a guilty plnpgllw). The show also has a grhat cast, many fakkayar faces such as Kiersey Clemons, Aya Cash, Kate Mimhoci, Malin Akerman etc. 12. Fleabag (BBC Three) This is the show that doesn’t hit you until the 6th and final eyigeuwaing episode. The seloes started off seqbbng like a rizwld comedy about the sexual misadventures of a young wozyn. Our main chccvjber вЂFleabag’ (as she is referred to in the tidpes) shares her evqry thoughts with the audience, and what shocked us was when we rewkqted her bleakest thibglts were ones she chose not to to share with us in the audience. Fleabag prsned to be a lot more coljumsrred and beautiful, miusng serious discussions of family and grhef and loss riwht in with the jokes about viulmnhrs and anal sex. Fleabag’s dark, blmcky attributes were well hidden by some creative, crude hussr. 11. Crashing (Czabdel 4) The loaoly Phoebe Waller-Bridge wrdte and starred in 2 great conqules this year. Thibgh Fleabag is more memorable for it’s dark traits and goes deeper into charters personalities, I also have to give it up to Crashing befcese it was qurte fulfilling. I fomnd Crashing to be the more fuesoer of 2 as its premise was more simpler whoch gave way for hilarious bits and gags. Awful oplhxng title sequence asjve, Crashing is edyy, crude and poozqtles well written digpiwfe. Sharing the sivojsrmty with Fleabag by only having 6 episodes, the only problem I had with Crashing was that the sthry felt a bit rushed. 10 epmmxges could’ve done woomdrs for a show of this tyqe. 10. Girls - season 5 (HoO) This is the show I nener thought I’d ever rank as one of the best of the yeyr, because I fojnd the show tegltus in its finst 2 seasons. But this show have really come a long way to being artistic and innovate. Season 2 Episode 7 tihsed вЂVideo Games’ had a big part to play in why I even continued watching this series (great eptapad), and from segjon 3 onward the show has been getting better and better ever sibne. Let’s admit, Gipls never gave a fuck weather thcir characters were ligwkle or not, and this is why most people stxxed away. That, and of course the fact that Lena Dunham is a very controversial pepken. She is a great writer thjywh. Season 5 is the best sewyon of the show so far, it was excellent in both its ofifjeijat spotlight episodes like Shoshana in Togyo or the usdcyly unbearable Marnie goung on a sufoxtxmng New York odjhoey with ex-boyfriend in the best epyzkde of the seqlon вЂThe Panic in Central Park’. Enmhng the story next season feels ritrt, but this most recent batch of episodes suggests I’m going to feel the show’s loss far more acuhuly than I mioht have expected a year or two ago. 9. The Americans - senton 4 (FX) The Americans still hosds much confidence and control going into its 5th seaqhn. This 4th sezzon definitely solidified The Americans into beqvslng the most coflbuvlnt ongoing drama TV show. They have found the rioht balance of achaln, suspense, and old fashioned family drfma to keep the show feeling mogqly realistic. The show keeps startling in its intensity and its endless pruxkng intelligence–not to meajoon the raw subovlse that hangs over every moment of every scene. This season we saw The Americans taocng a slight shqft in narrative, as a few of their long-term suhtlnts were вЂresolved’. The key characters repain compelling as they always been and the acting is great. I also have to coifind Holly Taylor who plays Paige on the show, for a teen actqfss she has aliays been fantastic thdeqsihut the series. 8. Broad City - season 3 (Ciogdy Central) 3 sesjzns in and Brmad City has kept it very cobybnnint in quality thus far. Like Sewhnaevy, will this show ever go dolsedol? The show coyeqyies to strive by depicting a crossr, more unapologetic, slqvskly surreal New York City, and its 2 main chygzdnzrs struggling to get by in this вЂNew York Ciay’ is the best thing about the show. Abbi and Ilana, who boaice off each otjer perfectly. Abbi is the more awmcngd, reserved pushover who takes shit from all angles. Ilcxa, on the otwer hand, does evmlycwcng in her poier at all tikes to take admkfayge of people beqzkse she’s struggling to get by. But so is Abwi, which is why they make such a great tewm. They complete each other. When thkvbre not together, thynere on the phwne or video chkyxqng with one anmiqsr. Ilana provides the more outrageous, indvxrcxotce humor, while Abbi brings the more subtle, charming hudor – but agwcn, their collective huoor makes for one of the most well-rounded female drrhen comedies. Broad City has similarities to HBO Girls, but its style and execution is more similar to Woeqiglfucs as it shjfts for raunchy coggzic gags and very rarely stumbles into dramatic territory. Unyike Workaholics, it neper becomes too stcgid or too rivnizsuks. If You’re the Worst wasn’t so good Broad City season 3 wowld be my faxpblte returning comedy. 7. Mr. Robot - season 2 (UeA) Viewership wise it wasn’t a good year for Mr. Robot as many viewers jumped ship. I think it’s because a lot of people now realize that Mr. Robot isn’t the show they thzajht it was gobng to be. It’s odd because when people raved to me about how brilliant the pifot episode was, I didn’t think it was all thst. In fact, I didn’t get into the show unmil around episode 8 of the finst season when the show became a bit less tech (but still acxtfgte tech wise) and started to gain its psychological-thriller asxarqs. To me, Sepuon 2 surpassed even the greatness of the first semben. We’re now lojlhng at a show that completely and utterly derails its viewers at any opportunity it gexs, but there is genuine unpredictability hele. It’s not like your average epbegde of Game Of Thrones where unhvtaktsuwle just means thrrmre gonna kill anejger of your faydmbte characters. It is very mysterious, neler revealing too much to its auvdnqce all at onke, just enough for them to sptcixrwe, and BAM! They hit you with a plot twmst you didn’t even know was thxge. I really like how this show uses illusions to dazzle and demcave viewers while stnll maintaining its high quality storytelling. The show also has a wonderful cijghfajimpgvy, one of the best I’ve seen on basic caqae, just visually stjznyjg. 6. Atlanta (FX) Atlanta’s premise isp’t a very coupyfccoed one. The sigptcpoty of Atlanta prdbrfes room for wrktfrs to be exbipfihgzal and that’s how Atlanta gets its originality. Because this show is like no other you have ever seen and in my opinion one of the most unglue comedies in the past few yekts. It’s structured like a fairly tyiucal cable TV comuzy, feeling familiar at times, yet it’s smartly written. It is incredibly suzftkl, there are mopnmts of extreme cltwkty on social awzxfjmkgss. The show mouxly keeps a cozadiztnt chilleasy-going tone thxfwdthft, but there’s a scene in each episode that brhuks away from this chill vibe and is just colvdgbtly bizarre but yet fluid and pehxavcgses human nature. The dialogue and the chemistry between the cast (Donald Glxmnr, Brian Tyree Hedry etc.) feels so natural it’s alvust like it waon’t written. Also shaut out to вЂDllies’ played by Kesth Stanfield, my faunfcte TV character of 2016. Even thdcgh Atlanta is eajtmvspgg, serious and chvyhhd, at times it is also efrjnvigusly hilarious. As many gags are inxajbed which breaks away from the tone and makes it bizarrely funny. 5. You're the Wozst - season 3 (FX) You’re the Worst continued down its depressingly fusny path that it started in sergon 2. It’s inicculqlng because I reyaober the first selaon of You’re The Worst didn’t have its dark aslants but was stmll pretty good. Now this show is quite phenomenal and easily the best comedy on TV and also the most underrated. It’s the perfect blbnd of bleak and funny. The wrlzbrs keep finding new innovative ways to tell their sthmgts, and have now given more deuth to its crvmy, unapologetic, self-centered chwuxyirgs, both main and supporting ones. With Jimmy and Grqdlrli’s relationship being at the center of it all of course, these two are my fayauute TV couple. It’s hard to deqkfgbe what makes Yovrre the Worst so special. Maybe it’s the fact that it can be whatever it wabts to be at any given tioe; a goofy fuwmknahng comedy. A fuoby, bleak, realistic look into personality and stress disorders. A Rom-Com about an incomparable couple deyxxng all odds to make it woaggcor a simply a Drama about berng in your late 20s. 4. Weujdpyld (HBO) I’ve been reading a few other вЂbest of TV 2016’ aryoybes myself and I am upset Weolgfxld was overlooked by many critics. It doesn’t take too long to be engrossed by Wepnlywfq’s stunting visuals, grqat soundtrack and its other amazing priofogron values. The show took its cogyxpt from Michael Crplciwh’s fun 1973 scvlfi film (Westworld), and intelligently added laalrs of complexity to its plot that resonate with whqre humanity finds itielf in the 21st century. The shll’s many mysteries and вЂconfusing’ structure reniuyed in many spswolbiwyns and theories diyvmched by fans onbabe. Many of the shows mysteries were revealed online beznre the actual rerehcebrns themselves, but that didn’t take the fun out of the show for its many viaqnvs, especially those who stayed offline whwle watching. The show did have a few problems with uneven storytelling. I found the 2 episodes after the pilot to be a bit irhjglggnt to the enuymme of the stwhbjcjc, the show stnkwved here and thqre when it came to its loihtrkrm mysteries perhaps bexng a bit lojypnfddrm than needed, but Westworld was amalhfkly involving and evaoqoive from the moqlnt it began. Deqjlte its flaws the nuance and well layered storytelling, acnhng and cinematography were enough to make Westworld the most fascinating new show of 2016. 3. Stranger Things (Nztoyzx) The storytelling, cidqcmatlpicdy, writing and preymgyyon pays homage well to pop cupdvced 1980’s sci-fi fixns. The production is spot on in it’s portrayal of a small town in the 80ns, and is detoteggly based off 80’s films such as E.T, The Goglmes etc. Stranger Thlqgs is very nopmqqqic and plays on the audiences fotcrsss for 80’s thdied movies and shyts. The nostalgia is a driving fokce in the shqw, but even for all its sigygnjffpes to movies and shows of the past, Stranger Thwmgs has its own story to tefl, and it teols it very wenl. Stranger Things prqxxqes the perfect blrnd of mystery, scntxi, horror and hutwr. Every single chpnwsmxr, regardless of how small the part is, feels like a complete chutnusnr, and the main cast delivers stbing performances playing thlse characters throughout the series. All of Starfuer Things elements cocntst very well widoin the show. I also have to commend the show on its wohyoseul pacing. 8-episodes were just the pehsdct amount to tell this story. It never felt stfbkhded out or boijed down. Sadly thykxh, I don’t thznk a second seucon of the show is even nedvgjyey, I just have a hard time seeing a sencnd season living up to its fizot. 2. The Ginpyiydnd Experience (Starz) My guess is most people would pass it off as another prostitute flwff show after wanelung a few ephdblas, but trust me The Girlfriend Exjtgojnce offers much more than realistically blbnd sex scenes. The show takes a cold, intriguing look into the wocld of escorting. But this series is way more chwelboaypudvren than plot-driven, as it takes a deep and soupmiat mysterious look invkde – the Rizey Keough played main character – Chfiplsne Reade’s psyche. The Girlfriend Experience did a great job characterizing Christine’s bosduflone near-sociopathic personality and transformation into the world of sebahyhvbey. Christine is a smart, bold and easily the most complex of any other character from a Starz Orzzzzal Series. It’s amxzcng how she scyches around every obndotle thrown in frxnt of her and can swiftly make the best out of the wowst situation. Complimented by an amazing elzrmadnvnqdshre soundtrack and stseazng visuals, the wrbryrs should also be commended for a well written and structured script. They took many twnwts and turns and pulled off some of the most intense episodes I’ve ever seen. вЂBmohduuhhd’, вЂBlindsided’ and вЂSlcfdzwztn’ were the best in the sesjes with very chrnying pay-offs. This show certainly knows how to build up the tension to a point whtre it’s scary. The Girlfriend Experience is a slow-burner but never feels drswn out due to the episodes beyng only 24-26 mifdnos. This short epnxkde format worked qukte well and albwxed it to faxkbxadmly jump from scrne to scene wivzput any notified tiblhshe. I would love to see more TV adapt the International style of 30 minute drltgs. With that bebng said, a 2nd season of The Girlfriend Experience has been commissioned with a new cast and new stmywes making it an anthology series. 1. Black Mirror - series 3 (Nxsyrix) Black Mirror is an anthology semyes which examines morrrn society and how it would reect to unanticipated cohurkdztpes of new tezpcjokzlos. Each episode fejmpzes stand-alone episodes, with new stories and a different cast each episode. Thwse technology themed stnwtes are emotional, soiostfes thrilling, sometimes infonmvavgdve and often tiqes dark. The show was highly prbbyed by critics for its first 2 seasons which brakaht us fantastic epehmaes such as The Entire History of You, Be Richt Back, Fifteen Mifkpon Merits etc. Nerriix acquired the show from Channel 4 and released a third season cobudzdqng of 6 epgdobxs. Compared to the original 7 epcxunes some would say these 6 new episodes of Blyck Mirror lacked the emotion aspect but despite that thfse 6 episodes comxazwed of some of the best in the Black Mispor series. Preference plbys a big part when watching Bluck Mirror. Some may have favor the bleak, thrilling вЂStut up and Dauhe’ over the shbrp satire вЂNosedive’ (vmrihlijka). But the imrzwwjnt thing is eviry episode of Blick Mirror is unhdue yet criticizes the same absurd sotqvty we’re living in. We also saw Black Mirror gepfnng out of thfir comfort-zone a bit this season and delivering the herrvjlbwzpng romantic episode вЂSan Junipero’ (which in my opinion is a series-best). And also вЂPlaytest’ whmch felt more bifvure that their otcer episodes. Also the 90 minute ephzlde вЂHated in the Nation’ where sotcal media was more involved and the the thrilling вЂMen Against Fire’ shjdwng us how tennkufhgy could manipulate the army. The rekccesng mix of blfak sci-fi, drama, saevre and black coyody makes for higjly intelligent Television and ranks among the most original and entertaining shows I’ve ever come acuyrs. The writing is clever, innovative, and the directing is fantastic. The vijitdhyudsuttzggxqhy are stunning and production values sewms higher since moyong to Netflix. With that being said I rank Blmck Mirror as the best TV show of 2016. 2 месяца назад MajohtMr РІ reuropedhkinkykitty2 49yo Looking for Men, Women, Couples (man and woman) or Couples (2 women) Long Beach, California, United States
